So i decided to write today on a article i read in the USA Today, "'Wolverine' gets summer off to a good start". This movie had 35 million dollars in sales across the United States opening night friday. The reason i wrote about this is because i was one of the people that went and seen the movie friday night also. I am a huge X Men fan and ill be honest i really was not that impressed. I just wish the movie would have been a little more logical to go along with the other movies. Will it be a movie that i buy and put in my dvd collection to add with my other X Men movie? yes it will of course but would i suggest to others to go see it and spend the money not really wait till it comes out to rent it i just not seeing how it could be number 1.

Swine Flu Outbreak in Mexico
Just when you think you heard it all. I read today in the New York Times, "Mexico May Isolate Patients With Deadly Swine Flu Strain" it just simply amazes me how many animals transport diseases from themselves to humans. It really makes you stop and think how exactly humans get this and how amazing it is how it spreads so quickly. People in Mexico are alarmed already 68 people killed and and over 1,000 people infected they are closing schools and have cancelled many public events. people are taking many procautions to protect themselves from this disease and they are wearing face masks and not shaking hands or kissing eachother on cheeks which is a custom in the hispanic culture. They said that this disease is now leaking into the United States so we need to be careful and they are urging to not go visit mexico, so with the summer time coming up folks and you are thinking about going to mexico you might want to re think that twice.

Didnt I just talk about this the other day?
As a result the other day i did my persuasive speech on not useing cell phones while driving today in the USA today i found a article called "Houston driver to face charges after death of 5 young passengers" where a 32 year old man was intoxicated and was using his cell phone when he hit someone killing 5 people. Needless to say this makes me sick to my stomach i think cell phone use is horrible while driving since i did my speech but to be intoxicated while doing it this jerk was just asking for it, and yes he is still alive unlike the 5 people he killed and yes they are charging him with it at least some type of justice was served, it just floors me how ignorant people can be!

MTV is trying to reach out to young kids
I read today in the New York Times "Make Room, Cynics; MTV Wants to Do Some Good " it is about 4 people who are making a reality tv shows that are trying to help kids instead of doing the same old show on mtv about pranks or dating someone i thought this was really awesome because it talks about Nick Lachey and rapper T.I helping kids who are struggling they are making these shows to show that MTV arent only about other stuff. To be honest with you i barely watch MTV because i think all the programs are a waste of time but now they are going to be putting these type of shows on i think its awesome and i would love to watch something like this i just hope other stars and reality tv shows take this into consideration because i like to watch something more real life versus something that is fake!

Scientists work on drug that can effect memory
I read today in the New York Times a article called "Brain Power, Brain Researchers Open Door To Editing Memory". I thought this article was really cool they are now testing the chemical on animals and feel that the drug will have the same effect on people they are hoping that this drug will help block those long term memorys that people suffer with due to tramatic events and help those people get over those memorys. I thought this was interesting due to the fact that some people hold onto those memorys and really have a hard time moving on in their lives, could you imagine having something that you have held on to for so many years, and let that memory effect your life and then all of a sudden it would be gone, im sure we all have things that we would like to forget but i thought this was very interesting, and i would love to see how this would really change a human being.

Girl is Free on Bond from Killing Local Sioux City Boy
Ok so i know i am supposed to venture away from the Sioux City Journal and all but i read the article today on "Teen to change plea in fatal shooting." 16 year old Ryan Blanchard was killed in a RiverSide Home on August 11. Codie Kapuan was charged with the killing of Blanchard and she plans on changing her plea that she had already said she was not guilty. I also read that she is out Free on Bond, so this is the part that really pissed me off, how can someone who takes someones life be out on bond? seriously that girl and yes i know she is only 16 but she needs to be locked up and not have the option of being out considering she took someones life. I hope this girl gets life in prison and Blanchards family gets the justice that they finally deserve.

Clinton Wants Tougher Laws on Drug Cartels in Mexico
I read "U.S. Demand Feeds Mexico's Drug Trade, Clinton says" this article really focused on the drug cartel that is sent through from mexico into the united states and how dangerous it is. Hiliary Clinton states how she is planning on working with the Mexican Law Enforcement to provide them with equipment they need to help arrest these people that are doing the illegal drug trafficing to the United States. I agree 100% with this i believe the drug situation here in the United States has really gotten out of hand. This country is dangerous and from being a past drug addict and in recovery I am glad somebody is doing something to help prevent the drug problem so go Hilary Clinton, and i hope this cuts down on the drug problem in this country.

Walmart Beats out Target
In the Time Magazine today i read "Walmart vs. Target: During the Recession, It's No Contest", they talked about how with the economy being down and people not buying much how Target is loosing out on money because Walmart has more things that people "need" versus "wants". Walmart is soaring past Target in sales and a lot of it has to do with Target having credit cards and people cant afford to use their credit cards with times being so bad. Well this really doesnt surprise me, I am a Walmart shopper, what doesnt Walmart have? Target in my eyes is just a bunch of expensive stuff that people dont have the money for and yes i know the Super Targets do have grocerys and stuff but as a consumer have you payed attention to how much more Target is then Walmart? So yes this didnt surprise me one bit and Walmart wins the way again!

Man Poses in Church and Gets Away With Big Bucks
I read in the Sioux City Journal today called "Man in Armored guard outfit rips off Neb. Church"
In Lincoln Nebraska a man disguised as a security guard went into a church and stole $145,000 dollars from the church. After the man left a woman said that the real security guard showed up ten minutes later. I dont believe the man has been arrested yet.
So how messed up is that? Why would a person think about doing that especially in a church, i hope and pray that this man will be caught ok seriously doesnt he have any type of knowledge of the bible and what not like they say what comes around go's around and i think in the final days for this man justice will be served wow i was just blown away by this and absolutely disgusted by the whole situation.

Somalians win settlement
I read "Four evicted Somalis win settlements" in the Sioux City Journal this week, ok so i have many opinions about this article and i know some insight on the whole situation considering i know the guy that used to manage the arbors. It wasnt a racial thing at all the reason why these people were evicted was because not paying rent, etc. it wasnt a racial thing to get rid of them. I have several friends that live in the Arbors and a lot of somalians still live in those apartments. I feel that these somalians used their race as a excuse to make the arbors look bad and to get some of the money they werent paying back and this makes me angry. Maybe us as white people since we are becoming the minority in this town should start pulling crap like this and we might get some money too. This story really pissed me off and made the management and staff or arbor apartments look bad, which they ARE NOT!!!!!!

19 year old sioux city man in custody
I read "Man arrested in infant daughter's death back in Woodbury County" in the Sioux City Journal today. 19 year old Paul Hill was arrested for allegidly killing his 4 month old infant daughter. Tuesday morning when he was putting her in her car seat she quit breathing. She was taken to mercy and then flown to omaha childrens hospital where she was pronounced dead. I really dont know how to feel about this situation but sad for the family considering this little girl was only 4 months old i have heard 2 sides to this story and one of them is from a good friend who is good friends with Paul and what the media has said no one will really know what happened because no one was there its just to sad that this little girl had to die

Woman seeks justice
I read "Wife of man dragged by van wants justice" her husband was hit by a van and was drug by the vehicle for 20 miles on wednesday. The man was a Ecuadorean immigrant and this was the 3rd ecuadorean immigrant that has died fatally in new york in the past 3 months. The man was on his was to lay tile for work in Brooklyn when he was hit by a SVU at cross lights and then he was impaled by steel plate on the underside of a van, and dragged nearly 20 miles. The first man called the police to find the man gone, the second driver thought he had something under is vehicle but had stopped and didnt see anything so he continued to drive for 20 miles and one hour later a pedestrian noticed the mans body under his van and they notified the authorities. The man was 26 years old. I read this and the first thought in my head was what the heck you are telling me you drag somebody under your vehicle for 20 miles and you dont notice it? Well i guess it happens but i think the one at fault here was the guy that hit him at the cross walk but he did do what he was supposed to by calling the police. Well overall this was a sad situation and to bad somebody had to die so horribly i just feel bad for the family.

Funding For Disaster
I read "Lawmakers expected to take up bonding plan" in the Sioux City Journal today Iowa Lawmakers passed a 56 million dollar bill to help aid disaster victims. My first thougt when i read this was about dang time, last year Iowa experienced so much disaster with all the flooding. What really got me was that they weren't prepared for it and they should of been. One of my best friends is in the national guard was sent to Burlington Iowa and Des Moines to help with the aid efforts i understand it was his job but i couldn't help but feel uncomfortable with the whole situation because i was afraid considering how dangerous the situations were that something was going to happen to him. He came home, but i feel all of that could of been prevented last year or at least it wouldn't of been so bad if maybe they would of done something about this last year everyone knew the bad weather was coming so why couldn't they try to help it instead of letting it get so bad well at least they are going to be prepared this year, and now the Iowa lawmakers are planning on taking it to the capital to try to get it tripled!

Family Finds Justice
I read in the Sioux City Journal today the top story titled "Jury finds Harris guilty of girls' murders" it was about the 26 year old man Lawrence Douglas Harris that had killed his two step daughters in a satantic ritual in sioux city over a year ago, within 2 weeks of trial they jury found him guilty of 2 counts of first degree murder and he will be sentenced Feb. 18th to live in prison.
This made me happy when i seen this because how sick can you be to kill 2 lil girls they should hang this guy but i believe he will be taken care of well in prison. I found it disgusting that someone would even represent this man and try to fight the "insanity" defense, come on he admitted right to the cops the day off it that he was the one that did it in a satanic ritual, and they found the girls' blood under his nails and on his shoes how much more evidence does someone need? seriously i think this was a blessing justice was served and i just hope now that the girls' mother Marla Stroman and her family can sleep a lil more peacefully at night knowing he will never walk the streets again a free man!

New President Has hope
I read a "A New Era" on the front page of the Sioux City Journal on Wednesday January 21,2009.
I think it is awesome that we have our first black president of the united states how amazing is that? When they talk about how much he has hope for this country and he is going to focus on remaking america a better country and i believe with all my heart that this new president is going to do it! many people are skeptical about it, but i believe many people are so narrow minded and racist and are not looking past his color to see what this brilliant man is saying, i cannot wait to see what he does with his country im sure it will be great!
